Hemodialysis Technician Program (CHT)

What is a Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT)?

A Certified Hemodialysis Technician performs venipuncture and arterial puncture for the purpose of providing dialysis treatment for a patient. A CHT student may also administer local anesthetics, heparin, and sodium chloride solutions according to the protocol established by the medical director of the hemodialysis clinic or hospital unit and under the immediate supervision of a licensed physician, surgeon, or licensed RN. The CHT program requires 90 hours of theory and 235 hours of clinical supervised training.

Program Requirements:

  • Possess a High School Diploma, GED, Transcript or Equivalent
  • Certified in B.L.S. (Basic Life Support) by American Heart Association
  • Must pass the Online Entrance Test Administered by the school with at least a score of 16 out of 50 questions within 12 minutes. ($10 testing fee)
  • Meet the required health requirements such as history and a Physical Exam performed by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner and a Negative P.P.D. skin test or negative Chest X-ray (if P.P.D. test result is positive) indicating no active tuberculosis.
  • Must not have been convicted in any court of law of any major crime.
  • Valid I.D. and Social Security Card
  • Proof of Hepatitis B Series Vaccination

Hemodialysis Class Schedule:

AM Class: 3 months (Seats are limited)

  • Theory - Wednesday - Thursday: 10:00am-3:15pm
  • Clinical - Monday - Tuesday - Friday: 10:00am-3:15pm

PM Class: 3 months (Seats are limited)

  • Theory - Wednesday - Friday: 4:00pm - 9:15pm
  • Clinical - Monday - Tuesday - Thursday: 4:00pm - 9:15pm
